Our Multi Manager fund range is the brainchild of Alan Thein and Tim Gardner. Their groundbreaking approach to fund management and the outstanding performance of the three funds they manage is a reflection of their competitive nature and genuine passion for investing. They are supported by a boutique team hand-picked by Alan and Tim themselves.
Alan thein:
Alan graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University in 1998 with a first class honours degree in Mathematics. Alan became a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2002. Prior to joining Legal & General in 2004 as the Director of the Investment Manager Research Unit (IMRU) he worked as a Senior Investment Consultant for Mercer Investment Consulting. Between 2004-2008 he set up and headed IMRU, which researches funds for Legal & General Unit Trust Managers Ltd and Legal & General (Portfolio Management Services) Limited, before co-founding (with Tim Gardner) the new Multi Manager operation in April 2008. Alan has over 11 years experience in the industry and is Co-Fund Manager of Legal & General’s MM Growth, MM Balanced and MM Income Trusts.
Tim Gardner:
Tim graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2000 with a first class honours degree in Biochemistry. He attained the IMC in 2001 and became a CFA Charterholder in 2003. Prior to joining Legal & General as a Senior Investment Researcher at the start of 2006, he worked as an Investment Consultant for Mercer Investment Consulting. Between 2006-2008 he worked in the Investment Manager Research Unit (IMRU), which researches funds for Legal & General Unit Trust Managers Ltd and Legal & General (Portfolio Management Services) Limited, before co-founding (with Alan Thein) the new Multi Manager operation in April 2008. Tim has over 9 years industry experience and is Co-Fund Manager of Legal & General’s MM Growth, MM Balanced and MM Income Trusts.
